SUSECON 2017 Basic Conference Info

  • When is SUSECON 2017?

SUSECON will be held 25–29 September 2017.

  • Where is SUSECON 2017?

SUSECON 2017 will be held at the Hilton Prague, Prague, Czechia.

  • What is the weather going to be like in Prague?

The average temperatures in September are highs of 64℉/17℃ and lows of 44℉/7℃. Typically there is about 51% chance of precipitation.

With mild daytime temperatures and cold evening temperatures, you'll need to pack a mixture of light clothing, as well as warm clothing. Since the probability of rainfall is relatively high during this month, it's also worth packing some waterproof clothing or an umbrella.

For more specific information on area weather,
    check the local weather ›

  • Will I need extra spending cash?

That depends on your spending habits! You may want to see the sights and enjoy the local cuisine of Prague on the conference open nights. During the conference, breakfast is included with the Hilton room rate. If staying at another hotel, you will want to check their breakfast policy. Lunch will be served Tuesday through Thursday, and snacks will be provided during afternoon break times. Food and beverages will be provided at the SUSECON Conference Party on Tuesday evening, 26 September, and during an off-site event on Wednesday, 27 September.

  • How should I dress for the conference?

We're not too picky about how you look; we just want you to come and be comfortable. You might want to check the local weather before you get here so you can bring clothing appropriate for the expected weather. Most attendees wear business casual or jeans with a t‐shirt.

  • Will I be able to access the internet while at the conference?

Absolutely. You can take advantage of wireless internet access at the Hilton Prague. For wireless access, 802.11b-compatible cards (or laptops) will be supported. The network name will be provided on-site. We will also have IT professionals on site to assist you with configuration or compatibility issues. We are unable to guarantee Internet access outside the meeting areas, although complimentary internet access will be provided with your room if you stay at the Hilton Prague in the SUSECON room block.

  • Can guests attend the evening events?

A Guest pass is available for all evening functions for a fee of € 250 per guest. This includes any regularly scheduled SUSE‐hosted conference activities after the close of daily sessions. Children under the age of 21 are not allowed at the evening events. Guest passes can be purchased on the SUSECON registration site.

What's it all about?

  • How can I find out what to expect at the conference?

The best place to start is the SUSECON home page for the majority of your questions and curiosities. If you need an official answer to a burning question and can't find it, email us at SUSECON_Support@suse.com, and a member of the SUSECON team will promptly respond.

  • What are the SUSECON hours and daily schedule?

Check the Agenda page for an overview of the various SUSECON activities and the times they will be held. Generally the day will start with keynote presentations and technical sessions starting at 9 a.m. Each day of the conference will proceed from there with Breakout sessions, Hands-on sessions, certification exams, and more until around 18:00. On Tuesday, 26 September, there will be a Conference Party at the Hilton Prague Hotel following the technical sessions. There will be an off-site event on Wednesday, 27 September. Refer back to the daily schedules as we get closer to the event for exact times.

  • Will I be able to see session content in advance?

The Session Catalog will be available in July 2017, including all Tutorial, Hands-on, Case Study, and Sponsor sessions. This will include session titles and abstracts. Session presentations will be available on the SUSECON website during the week of the conference and will be accessible for several months thereafter.

  • What are the best days to visit the sponsors and exhibitors in the Technology Showcase?

Various opportunities are available for you to spend time with the sponsors, exhibitors, and SUSE® employees in the Technology Showcase exhibit hall. Daily exhibit hall hours will be posted in the conference guide. The Technology Showcase will be open during lunch and breaks from Tuesday through Thursday, as well as during the SUSECON Conference Party on Tuesday evening.
